Jackie Stevenson
Biography


I was born and grew up in Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow. I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in Drawing and Painting in 1978.
I worked in management until 2003 when I opened a small studio and gallery space in Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire, running workshops and community exhibitions. Moving to Newcastle, I worked from the Biscuit Factory Studios for 3 years before relocating to Cowal in 2016.

My work is landscape based and I enjoy trying to capture the colours, moods and textures of the west of Scotland, using my sketches of the
environment around me to develop and explore new ways of using water-based media. I combine the use of collage with different surface treatments and acrylic ink, watercolour, pastel and pencil to create a personal interpretation which is a combination of representation and abstraction.

I became an Artist Member of Paisley Art Institute in October 2017.
